Statistics of Hunt's 2026 adventures

Since we have been home a little over a week, here are some final ideas and thoughts about our adventures. We put a lot of miles on the RV and had loads of adventures and experiences. We are looking at making some changes to the agenda next winter season. We will not spend as much time on the road as this year. We will definitely have a better idea of where we want to go and what we want to see. The beginning of our trip was very well planned, but after Christmas not so much. We have learned so many little tidbits of information and will plan accordingly.

We traveled 9,082 miles in the RV. We used approximately 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel. We were on the road 190 days. We went to 27 states and 31 campgrounds. We visited or stayed at 7 military bases. We went on 43 tours or self-guided excursions. An interesting fact is how many times we filled the propane tank for heating the camper. We had not had to fill the tank in six years since we bought the RV because we did mostly summer camping. We had to fill it 4 times for this trip. When you wake up and it is 32 degrees outside, you need some heat to warm you up and several nights we would turn on the heat.  We saw numerous friends and family, and it was great to see everyone.

Some highlights of the positives were: we tried new things, learned lots of trivial knowledge, experienced some things not available in Minot such as seeing in the wild, alligators, roadrunners, javelinas, and Texas longhorn cattle. We also had some cool experiences such as sledding on sand dunes, an underground mine tour, Carlsbad Caverns, and the Cross Ministries site to name a few.

Since we listed positives, we have to list negatives as well. One of the biggest headaches was getting medicine, we were told how simple it would be before we left which was a lie. Some of Mark's medicine needs to be refrigerated, so it was sent to Ashley and then she had to overnight it to our next stop. We sure appreciate her forwarding our mail. Finding a Catholic church weekly was sometimes quite a chore especially in areas that were primarily Baptist. Another weekly issue for me was finding my magazine, I had stopped my subscription because it can't be forwarded. Wal Mart or Walgreens carries it, but it was inconsistent, sometimes a week behind, sometimes a week ahead. Another negative was the lack of interaction with other campers; they were generally not as friendly as folks in North Dakota although we met a couple of people and visited for a few minutes.

As we get back to our normal routine, there won't be as many adventures until we start traveling again in late November to mid-December of 2026. I might do a blog of our Alaskan cruise in August, otherwise it will be when we embark on our next venture. Thanks for taking the time and interest in our travels.
